Student accommodation:
In Coimbra the students usually stay at the Polythechnical Student Residence, which is near the school. The rooms have two beds, private toilet, and also bed linen and toals. It gives kitchen facilities, study room and living room with TV and coffee, and also a canteen. The price is about 100/month.
However, to book the places we must have promptly the confirmation of the identity of the student.
Otherwise, one bedroom in a regular flat, for each student, costs about 170/month. Or, one apartment for 4 or 5 students costs about 550/month.
Own equipment to bring:
Your personal belongings, alarm clock, radio, uniforms, working shoes, etc.
Travel information
The distance between the School and the Hospital is about 8 km (30 minutes by BUS). There are buses every 20 minutes (from 6 a.m. till 1 a.m.). You can buy a bus ticket for a whole month. It is much cheaper and you can travel everywhere within the city limits (its about 40/month).
Information about Hospital placements and uniforms:
In Coimbra University Hospital (Radiology Department) there are the following areas: CT, MRI, General Radiology, Angiography, Emergency and Mammography.
The uniforms are similar for students and staff. Students must bring their own uniform (white overcoat) and appropriate shoes, because the hospital does not provide any of this.
The working day in Clinical Placements is from 8a.m. till 2 p.m. with half an hour for lunch and there is also a coffee break (10 minutes) midmorning.
Medical certifications:
Medical certificate of health condition is required, including the statement of the student not being a carrier of any serious and contagious illness.
The students must bring their own Certificate of regime of Health Protection in Europe.
Insurance:
Health care is free for students if they bring their own benefit card.
Travel insurance is student´s responsibility.
Radiation monitoring:
This is the responsibility of your home Institution.
You should bring X-ray badges for your Clinical Placements.
Cost of living (1 @ 200 Esc.):
 A meal in the Hospital or School canteen will costs about 2,5.
 A meal in a restaurant will costs about 8.
 A beer or juice will costs about 1.
 A litre of milk in a supermarket will costs less than 1.
 A cup of coffee costs about 0,5.
 A kilo of steak costs about 7.
 Petrol costs less than 1/litre.
Erasmus Curriculum
ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
The main topic, concerning Erasmus exchange, will be Computorized Tomography.
Nuclear Medicine (PET and SPECT), General Radiology, Angiography and Interventional Radiology are other related subjects of our Academic Programme.
During the Academic Programme the students will have Portuguese Culture as well as Portuguese Language Course.
The lectures will take place at School Campus, IBILI, Coimbra´s University Hospital and other Health Institutions.
There will be Cultural and Social activities in which the erasmus students will be accompanied by Teachers and Portuguese student.
ASSESSMENT
A written report is a very important aspect of our Erasmus curriculum, as well, your attendance at lectures and clinical placements.
The evaluation will consist at the end of the course, in a written report concerning CT and Portuguese Culture.
The report must be written in English;
 You could choice the subject of your dissertation;
 It has a maximum of 10 pages (A4) size;
 At the end of the exchange you will present your report to the Tutor and to your Erasmus colleagues;
During the last week (even without Clinical Placements) the students must stay at Coimbra to the assessment as well for doing the Erasmus evaluation questionnaires.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMME - Week 1 to 4
As you know, the main topic of the theoretical component, concerning Erasmus exchange, will be Computorized Tomography.
Other related subjects of our Academic Programme, are:
Physical Principles of Digital Image;
Descriptive Anatomy;
Cross Sectional Anatomy;
CT Protocols;
Spiral CT;
Thorax Pathology;
Abdominal Pathology;
Central Nervous System Pathology;
Nuclear Medicine;
Angiography;
Stereotaxy.
CLINICAL PLACEMENTS - Week 5 to 12
Clinical placements will mainly include CT issues.
NOTE: The Erasmus Co-ordination will make any adaptation considered necessary for the benefit of the Students Mobility.
